About me
Hey, I'm Yakko and I'm a software developer who has a few blogs and really should consolidate them.
I write technical pieces and content about running a compnay at blog.yakkomjuri.com and I have a Substack with more personal reflective pieces called Memoirs & Rambles (that unfortunately hasn't seen a post in a while).
I also have some writing that only exists on yakkomajuri.com and hasn't been ported over anywhere else and have previously written introductory technical content on Medium.
Altogether my posts have gotten millions of views, and while there was a very brief period where I accidentally found myself making non-negligible money on Medium, so far I haven't ever deliberately tried to monetize my writing.
Writing is really important to me. It's gotten me through tough times and it's helped me properly process complicated ideas.
Currently, I'm undertaking a challenge that's completely new to me: running a company. As a result, I really want to write more about this process because I know how helpful it can be for me, and so this website here was as much made to motivate me as it was made to motivate others.
If I'm telling you to get a blog, I should have an active blog too, right?
Part of this process has been building tools to help me as a writer, and this website is built on three of these tools:
- The website is built using Teeny, my own tiny static site generator
- I edit the content on this website using seams, a rich Markdown editor that's triggered as a CLI
- The newsletter is powered by neusletter
All of these tools are open source, and you're more than welcome to contribute to them if you like. I intend to release more tools as I go along, and I'd be really keen to revisit some of my ideas from recess, so follow along if you're interested.
Lastly, if you find yourself wanting to read something of mine, I'd recommend the following posts for starters:
